Advanced Tricks For Using The App Cromia: Color Picker Camera

Point your camera at anything and Cromia tells you the color — instantly, and entirely on your device. No account. No upload. No internet connection at any point.

🎨 A name, not just a code
The color under the lens is matched in CIELAB — the color space that measures difference the way your eye does — against an open catalog of 4,959 named colors. You get the everyday word for it, an expressive name, and the three closest colors in the catalog.

🧩 Palettes you keep
Colors you collect become a named palette you can come back to. Fill a palette from a photo report saved whole, from several colors in your library at once, from a single saved color, or straight from the frozen camera. An open palette then proposes an accent, a neutral and a bridge — each one saying what it is for — and names the harmony they form together.

✅ What's free
• Live camera detection — the reading updates as you move
• Tap to freeze, tap again to resume
• HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK — all four, no upgrade
• One-tap copy of any single format, with haptic feedback
• A common name and an expressive name for every color
• The three nearest catalog colors
• Three of the five focus sizes — choose how much of the frame is sampled
• 10 saved colors
• One full photo report a day: dominant colors, area shares, spatial highlights, image profile and harmony
• One palette
• Light and dark themes

🔒 Offline is the whole point
Camera frames never leave your device and are never stored. An analyzed photo is copied into private app storage so its report can be reopened, and is removed by Delete everything. There is no account, no sync, no server, and the app asks for no network permission. Everything above works in airplane mode.

🔍 A color picker that works anywhere
Use Cromia as a camera color picker on a wall, a fabric, a plant or a screen. Use it as a color identifier when you only want the name, or as a hex color picker when you need the code to paste. It is the same offline color detector either way, and it never asks for the network.

⭐ Cromia Pro
An optional in-app purchase that lifts every limit: unlimited saved colors instead of 10, unlimited photo reports instead of one a day, unlimited palettes instead of one, and all five focus sizes instead of three — the pinpoint and the wide lens included. Pro also adds the design tools to every color: the nearest Tailwind CSS token with an honest closeness rating, WCAG 2.1 contrast against white and black with AA and AAA verdicts, and six color-wheel palette schemes. Pro adds capacity, not a cloud — nothing leaves your device on Pro either. One purchase, once. There is no subscription.

Live detection, color names, all four formats and one-tap copy stay free, forever.

ℹ️ About accuracy
Cromia is a practical color picker, not a calibrated colorimeter. Your camera's automatic exposure and white balance change what the sensor sees, so lighting changes the reading — as it does for every camera-based color tool.
Identify any color by camera: HEX, RGB, palettes and names — fully offline.

What’s new

The first release of Cromia. Live camera color detection, 4,959 named colors, HEX/RGB/HSL/CMYK with one-tap copy, an offline library, palettes that suggest the accent and neutral they are missing, and full photo reports with dominant colors and harmony — all on your device.
